Originally from a small town in Northern AB, soprano Julie Johnson’Murray spent several years studying Voice in Edmonton before completing her Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Calgary in 2009. That same year, she won the University of Calgary’s Concerto Competition, working with Professor Donald Bell.

Now living in Nelson, B.C., Julie is an active member of the artistic community. She has organized and performed in many charity concerts and shows. Most recently, Julie performed the role of Maureen in Jonathan Larson's 'RENT' with the Elephant Mountain Music Theatre production, with whom she also performed as Mary in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in 2012. Julie’s love of music ranges from Broadway to opera, from ukulele folk to the effervescent French chanson. Julie is thrilled to be performing the role of Maureen in EMMT's touring production of Rent; she can't wait to share this unforgettable role with audiences around the Kootenays!
